History matters

I’ve started a hard thing.

I’ve have begun writing down the stories and memories about his life that Steve shared with me.

As an amateur genealogist, I know how important the stories are.  Our parents shared their stories and memories with my brother and I as we were growing up. (Sometimes ad nauseum!)  But Steve and I had no children, having married late, so there is no one who will know unless I write them down now.  History is important.

History.  His-story.  HIS-story.  When you think about it, all of history is GOD’s story – HIS story, Jesus’ story!  “In the beginning, God…”  He spoke and it was. He breathed and gave life to man.  He walked in the garden with man (Genesis 3:8.)  And he knew he would one day come to save man again.

Jesus was not Plan A or B, he was THE plan.  HIS story runs throughout scripture.  Read practically any book in the Old Testament, and you will find promises and prophecies about Jesus, about God’s faithfulness to provide his people with a way out of the death and destruction that our human choices bring about – the soul-death that shuts us off from God’s love, glory, mercy, justice.

So take some time.  Explore history.  Explore His Story!  You may be surprised by what you find.
